Ian B. Martin

Founder and Managing Principal​

Ian is the Founder and Managing Principal of Land By Label. Previously, Ian was President of Mandel Group, one of Southeastern Wisconsin’s largest multifamily and mixed-use development organizations. His leadership guided all phases of development, capitalization, construction oversight, and asset disposition. During his tenure at Mandel, he was responsible for developing over 900 multifamily units in the Milwaukee area, including Velo Village in Franklin, Taxco in Walker’s Point, and The Chiswick at Dunwood in Fox Point. Ian was also integral in launching a 30,000-square-foot Advocate Aurora Health clinic in West Allis.

Ian joined Mandel Group after nine years as Vice President of Multifamily Development at Continental Properties Company, Inc., where he produced 4,200 units throughout the United States, managing market research and identifying potential submarkets. Ian joined Continental Properties in 2007 as Corporate Counsel after practicing real estate transactional law at Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. As an attorney, he has handled many aspects of commercial real estate, ranging from development work and leasing to financing and dispositions.

Ian received his JD from the University of Iowa College of Law and a BA in History from the University of Iowa.

Brian D. Strandt

Vice President of Construction

Brian is the Vice President of Construction at Land By Label. Brian has more than 35 years of experience in general contracting and real estate development, with a portfolio that spans the education, business, healthcare, industrial, retail, municipal, and residential sectors. Brian’s focus areas are initial site review, entitlement assistance, managing architectural and civil design, budget control and reporting, and general contractor and construction oversight. Prior to Land By Label, Brian was a Senior Project Manager for the Mandel Group and a key team member in the Velo Village, Hackney House, and Taxco developments. Before joining the Mandel Group, Brian spent seven years with Continental Properties as a Director of Construction and was part of developing over 6,000 multifamily units across the United States. Brian has also led projects at various general contracting and design-build firms and was responsible for business development, conceptual estimating, scheduling, quality, and subcontractor management.

Brian received his BS in Construction Management from the University of Wisconsin.

Emily C. Cialdini

Vice President of Development

Emily is Vice President of Development at Land By Label. She navigates projects through every stage of the development process, from analyzing site feasibility and due diligence to executing entitlement and permitting strategies. Emily supports project concepts, managing design, marketing, schedules and budgets, and conducting critical financial analysis. With over a decade in the industry, Emily has worked on more than 1,600 Class A multifamily units in Southeastern Wisconsin. Her past roles include seven years as Senior Development Associate for Mandel Group and four years as Development Project Manager at Wangard Partners.

Emily graduated from Marquette University with degrees in Economics and Spanish.

Jim Pekar

Principal

Jim is a Principal of Land By Label. In 1994, Jim founded a dairy solution company focusing on natural fermentation and reaction technologies. Under Jim’s direction, First Choice Ingredients became a global leader in dairy-based flavors and concentrates. Jim’s ownership came to a close in September 2022 when he sold the company to a Dutch conglomerate for more than $450 million.

Jim played football for the Iowa Hawkeyes and two USFL teams, then signed with the Cleveland Browns before hanging up the cleats and pursuing a new career path complemented by his background in sports and team environments. He resides in Greendale with his high school sweetheart, Lisa, and they have four children and three grandchildren.
